Welcome To My Website

I am a computer technician by trade. I sometimes come across solutions or applications which I consider generally useful. Then, six months later, I try to remember that great solution I came up with and can't. This, then, will be my memory, my solutions journal, my technical diary. And you can read it, too, because my life is an open book.

Favorite Websites

Expect this to be a recurring theme here, that is, sites I like to go to for solutions or software gadgets.

This is my inaugural entry for this blog, and despite the subject matter, it is a personal blog, so you may as well expect that not all entries are going to be paragons of incredible technical insight.  I'm just a desktop technician, not a bloody miracle worker ... this is info helpful primarily to me!  You are just the lucky sap who gets to benefit from my knowledge while paying nothing more than attention.  Enjoy your visit!

Every tech I know finds their solutions on Google. We all have our base of expertise, and we all learn by doing. But the fact of the matter is, in 99.9 percent of technical problems, someone out there has done it already, and about 90 percent of this lot have gabbed about it in some searchable column or blog on line. So if you can come up with the right key words, you can find a solution to your technical problems on Google.

MicroSoft's Knowledge Base is about as good as it's ever been. Long before Google, I was searching there for help with my problems. Don't neglect them as a resource to resolve an enormous variety of technical issues with MicroSoft products.

Tom's Hardware remains a great source of information when it comes to hardware recommendations of all kinds.
